The prophecy about the destruction of Los Angeles was first pronounced by William Branham on April 29, 1965, when he was preaching the sermon "The choosing of a Bride" in Los Angeles, California, USA.
At the end of this sermon he began to say something that was not planned before. William Branham explained to have been given the inspiration by the Holy Ghost at that moment. In this sermon, Los Angeles was compared to Capernaum, where Jesus Christ preached and performed many miracles, but people rejected His Message. In Matthew 11:23 Jesus pronounced judgment against Capernaum. This prophecy came true (was fulfilled), and Capernaum was destroyed by earthquake.
The comparison of these two cities was given for the reason that during the ministry of William Branham in Los Angeles there were made many miracles happened and supernatural healing took place also, but his message was rejected. There is a lot of controversy about this prophecy. Some people consider it as a false prophecy, because it has not happened yet.
However, the fact is that in this sermon William Branham did not specify the timing of this event. He said: " We don’t know what time, and you don’t know what time that this city, one day, is going to be laying out here in the bottom of this ocean", William Marrion Branham, USA, April 29, 1965
