William Branham Sermons - Israel And The Church #2 (53-0326)

Sermon Title: Israel And The Church #2
Series subtitle: Out At The Red Sea
Date: March 26, 1953
Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana — Branham Tabernacle
Code: 53-0326

Note: Second of five nights in the Israel And The Church series. Identify this message by the code 53-0326 and the series number — never as "Israel And The Church" alone. A long and wide-ranging night: Branham opens the Exodus study, then follows the Holy Spirit into extended passages on the resurrection body, the patriarchs' bones, Moses, and the Pillar of Fire.

About This Sermon:
He begins by explaining why he is here instead of in the large arenas he had booked — Macon, Nashville, Connersville, and an Alberta arena seating twenty-five thousand — saying the Holy Spirit said, "Stop. Go home now, wait, I'm fixing to send you overseas." He compares it to Philip leaving the revival in Samaria to go out to Gaza for one man.

He continues from Genesis 25 and the patriarchs: election in Abraham, justification in Isaac, grace in Jacob, perfection in Joseph — the three stages of the Church, and then glorification. He teaches that those God justified He also glorified, so the believer is already perfect in God's sight in Christ, and he answers the eternal-security question carefully: the Church is eternally secure, and the question is whether a person is in the Church.

He then turns to the resurrection body. We will not become angels; God made angels, and He made man a man, and man will always be a man. He says the gray hairs will change and the wrinkles will run from the face, and that this is proved by the shadows and promises of the Old Testament. He walks through the patriarchs' burial instructions — Jacob swearing Joseph not to bury him in Egypt, Joseph's bones left in a casket as a witness, Job's "I know my Redeemer liveth" — and explains that they were buried in Palestine because they knew the resurrection would take place there. He tells of Christ descending to Paradise, opening the door, and leading the Old Testament saints out on Easter morning, with Matthew 27's record of many bodies of the saints rising and appearing in the city.

He then opens Exodus 1 — Israel in Egypt, the bondage, the taskmasters, Pharaoh who knew not Joseph — and moves into Exodus 2 and the birth of Moses, the preparation of deliverance. He draws Moses as a type of Christ: born under persecution, rejected of his brethren, an alien in his own country, taking a Gentile wife, and receiving two sons. He speaks of the rejected cornerstone and applies it to the Holy Spirit and the churches of today.

He closes with Moses at the burning bush, the two signs — the rod turned to a serpent, and the hand made leprous and healed — and the revelation of the Name: I AM. He ties it to the Pillar of Fire and to the photograph of the Angel of the Lord, and ends with the Mighty Conqueror taking the keys of death and hell, and with a word about Brother George watching for Brother Bill, then turning his head to the East and saying, "O Jesus, I knew You would come after me."
