William Branham was celebrated as a healing evangelist and one of “God’s Generals.” But what happens when we examine the evidence behind his miracles, his teachings, and the movement he left behind?

In this video, I examine Branham’s supernatural claims, the famous photograph of a light above his head, his accounts of an angel’s involvement in his ministry, and the difference between identifying someone’s illness and demonstrating that they were healed.

We also look at his serpent-seed teaching, his prediction concerning 1977, and the authority he claimed as an end-time messenger. Then we follow his legacy into the movement known as “The Message,” including reporting and former members’ accounts of spiritual control, abuse, and the cost of leaving particular communities.

This is personal for me, too. When I attended Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, I heard Branham praised and heard the story of him waiting for an angel before ministering. I explain why that troubled me and how I now evaluate those claims.

I’m a continuationist. I believe God still heals and that spiritual gifts are real. I also believe Christians have a responsibility to test what we’re told. A remarkable story does not put someone’s teaching beyond examination.

This investigation distinguishes Branham’s own statements, supporters’ accounts, historical research, and allegations. It does not assume that every reported healing was fabricated or that every Message congregation operates identically.

Research discussed includes:
• C. Douglas Weaver, The Healer-Prophet: William Marrion Branham
• Walter J. Hollenweger, Pentecostalism: Origins and Developments Worldwide
• Roberts Liardon, God’s Generals
• Branham’s published sermon transcripts
• Reporting on former members’ experiences within The Message

Were you taught about William Branham or encouraged to admire his ministry? What were you told, and what questions did you have?
